Filtered Perception

I was in a tiny Mexican restaurant in Dallas one afternoon. I saw this lady sneak paper boats on this little girl’s table when the family went to the restroom. She (and the little girl’s mother) agreed to let me take their picture. She said I was lucky because she never even let her family photograph her. The lady and I finished our lunch together. She told me stories of how she practiced as a ballerina in France right after World War II. It was one of my favorite afternoons this year.
